Rosicrucian philosophy is based on ancient sources like the writings of the classical Rosicrucians of the 17th Century, which tell about the path of initiation into the Christian mysteries. Among others, another important source are the writings of Hermes Trismegistos which contain the wisdom of the ancient Egyptic mysteries.
On the other hand, Rosicrucians experience the universal wisdom as a living force in themselves. Knowledge of God – gnosis – is a state of consciousness that arises from the “Rose of the heart” – the eternal spirit-spark that exits in every man’s heart from the very beginning. Read the following articles to learn more about what Rosicrucians think, feel, and do.

What is Gnosis?
Religious secret knowledge, search for divine knowledge – these are some of the thoughts that are associated with the word Gnosis. But what does it mean to experience gnosis inside oneself? To find out, you have to turn to the source from which Gnosis rises.
Gnosis and Gnostics in European intellectual history are usually associated with early Christianity. However, there have been Gnostics at all times. For the Gnosis – the divine knowledge – has always been and still is a force that can communicate directly to each person, regardless of religious systems and traditions.
The Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius is regarded as a spiritual turning point – for society, but particularly for every individual. There is much speculation about the beginning of the Aquarius era. Has it already begun, is it yet to come, or is mankind already in the middle of Aquarius?
Nothing is as it was. The people, society and the consciousness of mankind today is changing rapidly. Norms and values dissolve, hierarchies and authoritarian structures break down, the illusion is unmasked, and subtle realities are perceived more and more consciously.
The Early Gnostics – Messengers of the Gnosis (1)
Gnosis means “divine knowledge“. Gnostics are people who search for this divine knowledge. The traces of the early Gnostics begin in the first centuries after Christ. Many of the so-called “heretics” were killed. But Gnosticism has survived until today.
There have always been people who ask about the meaning of life and creation and who cannot find peace in the mortal world. They search for a higher knowledge, for an inner knowledge, for gnosis (gnosis of ancient Greek γνσις =knowledge, recognition)
Encounter with the Rose of the Heart
Searching and finding on the spiritual path is something very personal. Everyone has his own “history” about passing the Mystical Gate. A Rosicrucian from the Lectorium Rosicrucianum speaks about her own experiences.
My previous life had lost its meaning because something essential was broken. It had all started so promising. What had gone wrong? Where was the mistake? How could things go on now? What could a future life look like? Is there anything that is inviolable, absolute and permanent?
The Early Gnostics – Messengers of the Gnosis (2)
The history of Gnosticism from the 7th Century until today leads to movements like the Bogomiles, the Manichaeans and the Cathars, and to unique individuals like Meister Eckhart and Jakob Boehme. The Rosicrucians in the LRC also stand in the Gnostic tradition.
Gnostics are characterized by their longing for the kingdom of Light. They can be found in the gnostic movements of all ages and also in individual persons who became messengers of the divine reality through their serving life.
The Silent Companion
The message of eternity is very close to everybody’s heart. So close that it is not generally recognized. In the human heart there is a silent companion waiting to help in the search for it. But you have to trust in him. A report about a very personal relationship.
He was always with me. I do not remember when it started. In my memory this silent companion had been a part of myself. I had not previously experienced him as being separate from myself. It was not until the age of 19 that I learned he is not my own and that he can also leave me.
